Let's stop a moment in time with Seven Photography

This weeks Featured Photographer is Laci Thorson of Seven Photography. I met Laci a couple months ago, and since then we have developed a great business relationship as well as a great friendship. From the moment I met Laci I could see her passion for her job as a photographer and her desire to truly make her customers happy. Laci has many plans for her business this year and I am so glad to be able to be a part of the creativity! Here is my interview with Laci.

Me: How long have you been doing photography for?

Laci: Business wise almost 2 years but on and off for about 10 years!

Me: What inspired you to start doing photography?

Laci: I have always, for as long as I can remember, loved photography...When I was little, my great aunt had an Annie Leibovitz  book that I looked at every time I was with her, and I could look at that book over and over and it would never get old.  I remember the first photograph I took that gave me goose bumps...and that was inspiration...It was of my oldest daughter Sayler and her little neighbor buddy Dylan they were 4.  They were sitting on a bench, and they both had their arms around one another, and I took the picture from behind. I remember thinking it turned out so great, it could be a postcard...not that it should have been!  Having my kids inspired me as well...I loved them so much I wanted to freeze time and by photographing them it does in a way.  To this day I get inspiration from my kids...and I know I always will, It's love!

Me: What do you hope to achieve with your business in 2012?

Laci: I want my style and aesthetic to grow.  It's important to really hone in on your roots and let it blossom naturally...I never assume I have "made it" I am always learning more and trying more.  I set a new goal almost everyday, and don't move on til I have achieved it.  At the end of 2011, I was happy and eager, I hope at the end of 2012 I will still be happy and eager.

Me: What is your motto when it comes to photography and your business?

Laci: I can really go on and on with this question...I don't know that I have just one motto. I do however know that I will always be true to myself...I am doing photography because I love it. The word PASSION doesn't seem quite big enough.  It makes me feel happy...when I am taking pictures of a senior in high school, I am watching through my lens this young life getting ready to expand their little wings. Their is a determination that plays out and then it comes through on the finished product. The doting mom then cries and the girl jumps up and down and giggles (cause she knows shes got it goin on) that's it...I managed to stop a moment in time...that seems to be flying by so quickly.  It feels good.  So I guess my motto is not about money or notoriety, its about being able to capture a moment in time that will be framed and seen everyday...Imagine your most favorite thoughts that you get to actually look at.
